GANDHA re-releases in all Pune theaters

Yes. Once again our film GANDHA is back in theaters near you. Post swine flu scare the cinema halls across Pune are now open for punekars, as they can now enjoy their favorite movies on the big screen. Its been challenging and cautious time for for all puneites and we should be proud the way we have responded to it. We would like to congratulate all Puneites for winning this fight. At the same time, we extend our condolences to our dear friends who become victims of the flu.

Like our beloved Raj Kapoor famously said - The Show must go on.
So here we are, once again presenting one of Marathi cinemas most awaited film of the year - GANDHA.

The director of controversial Black Friday, Popular Gulal & impressive DEV D would be in the city to attend the Premier of Marathi Film GANDHA

GANDHA is the kind of film that Anurag believes in and he is keenly following the work of new wave Marathi film makers. The fact that he liked the film immensely made him agree to be present at the event to felicitate all the actors and the technical team of the prominent and long awaited film, written and directed by city based film maker Sachin Kundalkar. GANDHA (Smell) will hit the screens on Friday 7th August with sub titled prints at select theatres.

GANDHA has Amruta Subhash, Sonali Kulkarni, Girish Kulkarni, Neena Kulkarni & Milind Soman in the main Lead. Gandha is the debut of Bollywood heartthrob and supermodel Milind Soman into Marathi. The film is shot by cinematographer Amalendu Chowdhary.

GANDHA is produced by the city Based enterprise FLASHBULBS VENTURES which is the brainchild of Pritam Bhandari, Rajesh Goyal and Sandeep Kankariya.

The premier of the film will take place on Friday 7th August in attendance of all the stars and entire crew. GANDHA is the third film by Sachin Kundalkar whose earlier meaningful and modern cinema includes RESTAURANT (2006) and NIROP (2007). Bollywood Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar has described GANDHA as the landmark production in new Indian cinema

Gandha Wins Award in PIFF

It brings us great pleasure to announce that our film Gandha has won the Best ScreenPlay Award at the recently concluded Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) in Pune. The award was given by honorable Chief Minister Mr.Ashok Chavan in presence of Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, Mr. Harshvardhan Patil, Ms.Vidya Balan, Ms. Sonali Kulkarni, and other prominent guests.

PIFF is a prestigious event which is held every year in Pune, wherein 140 international films are chosen for screening out of several hundreds and around 7 Marathi films are chosen from around 30 odd films. The event takes place in the first calendar month and includes screening of movies in E-Square, City Pride Kothrud, Inox, NFAI. The event usually lasts for a week at the end of which is the Award night ceremony.

PIFF has international panel of juries for Marathi films and Indian jury for International films. Year 2009 saw a record breaking around 2500 movie enthusiasts flocking the cinema halls to watch international as well as Marathi movies throughout the event.

Its a great start to the calendar year for Gandha.

One can experience sight, sound, shape and colours, but not the sense of smell. Smell is something that a cinematic experience misses out on.

GANDHA is a feature film, with an ensemble of three independent films, bound together by characters which are going through experiences involving the sense of smell. The stories depict the complexity of relationships and their varied emotional landscapes.


MOVIE 1 SYNOPSIS

Lagnaachya Vayachii Mulgi (A Bride To Be) is a romantic comedy performed in a pure theatrical style. Veena, a young girl staying in the old town, is not getting a suitable groom due to her dark skin colour. One day she declares her unbound love with a mysterious lover to her parents.


MOVIE 2 SYNOPSIS



Aushadh Ghenara Manus (A Man On Medicines) is the story of Sarang, a HIV +ve fashion photographer, who is abandoned by his parents and his wife. It’s been two years and today his wife is coming back to see him. In this fragile attempt to reunite, both of them do nothing but dig out dark, unspoken truths of their relationship.

MOVIE 3 SYNOPSIS


Baajoola Basleli Baai (A Woman Sitting Aside) takes place on a stormy night in a village. Women having their monthly periods are considered impure in rural India. They have to sit aside in the dark corner of the house during those four days. Janaki, cannot attend to the newly born baby in the house and has to make do by doing nothing. A poetic and complex story taking place in the picturesque village of costal India.
